Your Google profile is your storefront. Most are half-built.
More people will see your Google profile this month than your website. It's usually the least maintained thing a business owns — and it's the first thing a customer looks at.

Most owners recognize themselves here.
None of it takes a marketing degree to fix. It just takes someone paying attention — which is exactly why nobody does.
Wrong category
You're a plumber listed as a 'home services' generalist. Google doesn't know what you do, so it doesn't show you for the searches that pay. Most owners set this once, years ago, and never looked again.
Wrong or old phone number
The number on your profile is the one from two phones ago. Customers call it, nobody answers, they call the next business. You never even know you lost them.
No photos
A blank profile with zero photos looks abandoned. Customers scroll right past it to the business that shows its work, its trucks, and its team.
No posts, unanswered reviews
The last post was in 2022. Three reviews sit unanswered — one of them a complaint. To a new customer, it looks like nobody's minding the store.
The profile, done properly. Field by field.
Nothing here is secret. It's the work nobody has time to do — done consistently, and kept up.
Primary and secondary categories
The right primary category and the secondary ones that match what you actually do. This single field decides more of your ranking than almost anything else.
Services and descriptions
Every service you offer listed clearly, with descriptions that read like a person wrote them — not a keyword dump Google ignores.
Hours, including holidays
Accurate hours, updated for holidays and seasonal changes. Wrong hours are the fastest way to lose a customer who showed up to a locked door.
Photos on a schedule
Real photos of your work, your team, and your trucks — uploaded on a regular cadence so the profile looks alive and active, not frozen.
Posts and updates
Regular posts about offers, seasonal work, and what's happening at the business. The kind of thing that signals 'we're open and busy' to Google and to customers.
Q&A seeded with real questions
The questions customers actually ask — 'Do you work weekends?' 'How far do you travel?' — answered once, on the profile, so they don't have to call to find out.
Review responses written by a person
Every review gets a real, human-written response — the good ones and the hard ones. Not a template. Customers read these, and so does Google.
Google isn't the only place customers look.
Your name, address, and phone need to match everywhere — not just on Google. When they don't, Google stops trusting the information, and your ranking drops. Consistency is the whole job.
One wrong phone number on a single directory can quietly send customers to a dead line for months. We find them and fix them across every listing that feeds the maps.
Apple Maps
iPhone users search here by default. If your listing is wrong or missing, that's a chunk of your market you're invisible to.
Bing Places
Smaller share, but it feeds voice search and desktop results. Wrong info here still costs you calls.
The directories that feed them
Yelp, Yellow Pages, Facebook, and dozens of aggregators push data to Google, Apple, and Bing. Inconsistent info here spreads everywhere.
One profile, done right, ranking across the whole region you work.
Most Coastal Bend businesses cover more than one town — Corpus Christi, Portland, Rockport, the Island, Aransas Pass. A single Google profile can rank across your whole service area, but only if it's set up as a service-area business and the listings are consistent everywhere you show up.
Multi-location is a different problem. Two locations with overlapping service areas and mismatched info will fight each other in the map pack. We set each one up cleanly, with its own accurate listing, so they help instead of compete.
The businesses winning the map pack here aren't doing anything clever. They have complete profiles, consistent listings, and someone responding to reviews. That's the bar, and most of your competitors are under it.
Reviews are earned, not bought.
A steady flow of honest reviews is one of the highest-leverage things you can do for your ranking — and for the next customer deciding whether to call you. Here's how we handle it.
Requests sent at the right moment
We send the request right after the job, when the customer is happiest and most likely to write one. Timing is most of the battle.
Every response written by a person
A real person writes the response to every review — thanking the good ones, addressing the hard ones. Not an auto-reply, not a template.
We don't buy or fake reviews
No bought reviews, no fabricated reviews, no incentivized reviews. Google catches them, removes them, and can suspend the profile entirely. It's not worth the risk, and it's not honest.
What happens to businesses that buy reviews: Google's systems flag sudden bursts of five-star reviews from fake accounts, removes them, and can suspend the entire profile. Recovering from a suspension is slow and sometimes permanent. The shortcut costs more than the honest path.
A rebuilt profile, real calls.
Common questions about listings & maps.
The ones every business owner asks first. If yours isn't here, ask us on the demo.
Usually one of three things: your profile is unverified or incomplete, your category is wrong or missing, or your name, address, and phone don't match across listings. Sometimes it's all three. The profile that shows up is the one that's complete, accurate, and active — and most local profiles are none of those. Fix the basics and you'll usually start appearing.
You change it inside your Google Business Profile, under the 'Edit profile' section. And yes, it matters more than almost anything else on the profile — it's the single biggest signal Google uses to decide what searches to show you for. Get it wrong and you rank for the wrong things or nothing at all. We've seen businesses jump several spots just from correcting this one field.
Respond to it — calmly, factually, and without arguing. A thoughtful response to a bad review tells the next customer more about you than the review itself does. We write every response by hand, address the specific issue, and offer a way to make it right. Never delete a real review, never get into a fight, and never pay to have it removed. The honest response is the one that wins.
There's no magic number, but a profile with a steady stream of real photos — your work, your team, your trucks — outperforms one with none. We upload on a regular schedule, usually a few a month, so the profile looks alive. Stock photos and generic images don't help; real ones do. Quality and recency beat quantity.
It can, if it looks like you're trying to game the system. Legitimate businesses sharing a building — like a co-working space or a suite building — are fine, as long as each has its own suite number and distinct signage. What hurts is two 'businesses' at the same address with the same phone or overlapping services. Google sees that as spam and can suspend both. If you're legitimate, we make sure it's set up so Google can tell.
